Department ADA Contact Information
If your department’s ADA contact information needs to be updated, please make the correction directly in the Department ADA Contact Information spreadsheet. The Department on Disability will be notified when changes are made.
If you cannot make changes to the spreadsheet, please email dod.contact@lacity.org.
All Departments* are required to perform their work in compliance with applicable disability access laws, regulations, and standards. It is the responsibility of Departments to determine how to fulfill this obligation. Designating Department employees to fill specific disability access related roles is one of multiple approaches that may be used. When designating department staff for this purpose, the City’s framework is as follows:
Department level point of contact for the Department on Disability.
*Required for all departments*
Specialized training/knowledge not required
Serves as point of contact for the Department on Disability
Refers disability access matters to appropriate employees within the department
Must have direct access to senior management to elevate disability access issues when needed
Ensures Department employees are aware of Department on Disability services
Collaborates with the Department on Disability on the Citywide Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan update, or designate another appropriate employee to do so.
Department employee(s) trained to serve as a Department resource on disability access compliance requirements and best practices.
Has general ADA Title II knowledge
Provides guidance and technical assistance to employees in the Department
May have specific disability access duties assigned by the Department
May also serve as ADA Liaison
Participates in ADA Coordinator meetings facilitated by the Department on Disability
Meets specific requirements:
Has an ADA Coordinator Certification (fee: $300 registration + $25/year renewal)
OR
Has the following training and experience:
At least two years of experience advising on disability access requirements and best practices as part of standard job duties
Has taken the ADA History and Overview Course
Participates in at least 12 hours of continuing education annually
Note: Designating a department level ADA Coordinator does not limit the obligation of all department employees to perform their work in compliance with the ADA.
Department employee(s) with specialized knowledge and experience in a specific area of disability access compliance.
Has specialized knowledge and skills applicable to a specific area of disability access
Participates in continuing education relative to the area of subject matter expertise
May also serve as ADA Liaison and/or ADA Coordinator
Common areas requiring specialized knowledge and skills:
Facility accessibility
Pedestrian facility accessibility
Web and mobile accessibility
Public transportation (ADA Title II, Part B)
Housing accessibility
Emergency management

Department ADA Contacts are encouraged to obtain their ADA Coordinator Certification and to maintain their knowledge of disability access compliance requirements and best practices by participating in training on an ongoing basis.
