A complaint and/or grievance may be filed by or on behalf of an individual with a disability if the individual believes their rights under the ADA or other civil rights protections have been violated.
Individuals are encouraged to attempt to resolve the issue with the relevant department by starting with a complaint. Complaints may be made directly to department staff or through MyLA311 ADA/Accessibility/Disability Complaints.
If the individual is unable to resolve the issue with the responsible department, they may file a grievance. They also have the option to proceed directly to filing a grievance. Filing a grievance initiates a formal process with specific requirements and deadlines that are specified in each respective grievance process.
